Sermon Notes
Let’s begin with Prayer
This is taken from the Book of Common Worship (1906) and provides a good model for us to follow:
O God, who hast willed that the gate of mercy should stand open to the faithful; look on us, and have mercy upon us; that we, who by Thy grace are following the path of Thy will, may never turn aside from the ways of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
In more modern language it may read something like this:
LORD, thank you for your continued mercy to those who faithfully love and follow you. Please continue to look upon us with mercy and pour out your grace so that we can walk along the path you light up for us. We never want to depart from that path of life. In Jesus’ name. Amen
